‘Pehla Kadam ‘ – First Open Drawing/Painting competition for school students was organised by the Rakshak World Foundation at Payer Village of Pulwama District in Jammu and Kashmir. Students of various schools participated in the event held on November 22, 2022 at Government High School of Payer. Prize distribution ceremony was organised on the very next day of the event at the school ground. Chief Horticulture Officer Javed Ahmed Bhatt was the Chief Guest and Zonal Education Officer Altaf Husssain Pandit graced the occasion as Special Guest. Winners of various categories of the competition were awarded with Medals , Certificates and Gifts.
It was a first of its kind of event organised in the area and was appreciated by one and all. This Drawing and Painting Competition is part of ‘Pehla Kadam ‘ , a campaign initiated by the foundation , for creating awareness among children to protect the environment and cleanliness. Foundation has more such plans to sensitise the society, especially people who are residing in rural and remote areas. Despite the fact that Drawing/Art is not being taught or practiced in schools of Kashmir, more than 100 students participated in the competition , which is really encouraging. It also shows that students are very much interested in such activities. Few respectables , including lumberdar of the village Payer , were also invited in the prize distribution ceremony.
All students were given participation certificates and refreshment. The Horticulture Department gifted the top quality fruit plant and vermi compost bags to all winning students. Apart from Government High School , students from adjoining schools like Shining Model School, SAADI Kids World also participated in the competition.
